Third Sunday of Advent

Bible Readings

First reading: Isaiah 61:1-4, 8-11
Psalm: Psalm 126 or Luke 1:46b-55
Second reading: 1 Thessalonians 5:16-24
Gospel: John 1:6-8, 19-28

The Testimony of John the Baptist

 Some thoughts on today's Gospel

  • John knew that his role was to bring people to Christ. So is ours. We try to live our lives right so that people will be able to know through us that faith in Christ makes all the difference.
  • John knew that his baptism was preparatory;
    it was only ‘with water’. Jesus baptised each of us with the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit dwells in us; he leads and guides us; we try to be open to his powerful work in our hearts.

Can We Sing Now???

Congregations in the ACT

ACT GOVERNMENT GUIDELINES relating to Singing, as from 7 December 2020.

Please note this important advice: Congregational singing is discouraged
However, if congregations wish to allow singing they need to include this in their COVID Safety Plan and ensure that members maintain a minimum of 1.5 metres from each other whilst singing.

If singing is being introduced, a revised COVID Safety Plan approved by Church Council must be submitted to Presbytery and Synod.
