Gospel: Matthew 5:13-20

“You are the salt of the earth…. You are the light of the world.” 

With those words Jesus is declaring what already is. He is making a statement of fact. This doesn’t mean we must become something we’re not already. It means we are to become, live into, and manifest what we already are. That is both the good news and the challenge, to believe and become what we already are

Lord, we pray for:

• all affected by the bushfires, for restoration of their lives and property, and appropriate support
• the RFS and all still fighting bushfires across Australia, for protection of lives and property, and for all who provide support in many ways
• all affected by the coronavirus, and for global containment and elimination of the virus

• The cooler weather and the welcome rain, bringing easing of bushfire conditions
